The Asus Eee PC is sufficiently small and portable that it is easy to take with you when you’re out and about. Which also increases the risk of it getting lost or stolen. The data on the Eee may be more valuable that the computer itself so I wanted to set up my Home directory with encryption using LUKS and PAM-MOUNT. After many failed attempts to get this working it turns out that it need not have been so difficult.

Synchronise documents and files between multiple computers regardless of whether they’re Windows, Linux or Mac. Dropbox is an excellent free service that uses Amazon’s S3 technology to make file synchronisation easy to use, secure, quick and, lets not forget, free. Read more
Whilst on holiday in Canada during the Summer of 2006 we visited the West Edmonton Mall. This Mall proudly proclaims to be the worlds largest shopping and entertainment complex. It even includes an Ice Rink!

My week in Mexico was spent at the Barcelo Maya Tropical Beach hotel, part of the huge Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, located just over an hour drive south from Cancun airport. The Barcelo is an all inclusive hotel, which was a nice touch but I didn’t spend a sufficient amount of time at the hotel to take full advantage of this. Read more

The Holiday Inn Select Downtown offers a reasonably priced hotel with a very good location, directly opposite the famous Peabody Hotel. Over at the Peabody hotel, the Peabody’s famous ducks walk from the elevator to the fountain in the lobby every morning and return to the elevator for their ride to their sleeping quarters on the roof of the hotel, watched by crowds of tourists and hotel guests Read more
I stayed in the huge Scandic Grand Marina hotel, a converted warehouse with rooms reminisant of a cruise liner, appropriate considering the hotel’s harbourside location. The hotel was just a short walk to the Senete Square and other local attractions. Read more
